Oppossum Skull

Finally pulled the possum carcass out of our window well, it was pretty well decayed, no blood or insides let, just fur and bones; so it wasn't too much of a problem pulling the skin off. Then I let it soak for a couple days in diluted hydrogen proxide, but then noticed that the solution made the bones go soft and I had already lost a couple of teeth.

So I let the skull sun bake on our back porch for a couple days, although parts of the skull had already broken off, so I lost a bit of the left side's cheek bone and part of the nasal cavitity.

Then came the fun part of putting it back together, glueing the upper half back together along with glueing the lower jaw bones back together and putting the teeth back in.

I love the middle picture, the full front view, doesn't it look like he's smiling? What a cute smile.

That's a twist off soda cap thing, in case the camera didn't catch that.

Although I didn't check it as being mature content, please tell me if you think I should change that.
